JDSG Featured on North Olmsted Website!

It’s a frigid winter day outside, but at JoAnn DePolo (sunlit) Studios and Gallery there are bright colors and soft music – a class has just left, their work is drying on easels in the center of the room.
Opened in autumn of 2012 after years of working out of her home and temporary spaces, JoAnn DePolo Studios and Gallery’s presence in North Olmsted is a wonderful, creative and artistic resource for our community!
“I’m the opposite of every artist you’ve ever met,” JoAnn declares. Her artistic mission is community outreach–with her Come and Create TM classes and workshops–to help anyone who’s interested in learning to paint or wants to hone their skills as painters.
Self-described as more coach than teacher, she strives to get her students’ works and collaborative murals out for the public to enjoy by organizing student shows at places like local public libraries, North Olmsted City Hall and senior living centers in addition to her own gallery.
While she offers acrylic painting classes and workshops for children and adults in her North Olmsted studio, she also teaches remotely, most recently at the Solon branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library.
If you call to inquire about her classes, JoAnn may discourage your enrollment if you want to be a realistic painter. Her classes are impressionist/expressionist painting classes. “I love to live in the abstract,” she says with a laugh. Although she CAN paint a masterful portrait when called upon to do so!
In addition to her studio classes, there is a watercolor artist doing a workshop in March and April. She will rent her studio for creative groups and workshops as well. See her gallery website for all the info.
JoAnn is a published author with her dynamic paintings hanging locally at her studio, in the newly renovated North Olmsted Rec Center, and North Olmsted City Hall. Nationally and internationally collected, her art hangs in homes of pro baseball’s Omar Vizquel and world-famous artist Peter Max, just to name two. In fact, she once had her paintings shown with Peter Max’s show in Cleveland! WOW!
