Young Audiences 2011 ArtWorks Painting Co-Op Rocks!
I have been mentoring 9 artist apprentices in Young Audiences ArtWorks since mid June. ArtWorks is an award winning arts based job training program for teens 14 -17 taking place at the Halle Building Euclid Ave. and Tri-C Metro Campus. For 6 weeks in the summer, apprentices work with master teaching artists in their preferred medium learning job training skills as they enhance their artistic abilities. Among the Halle Building Co-ops are vocals, photography, architecture, culinary, pastry, ceramics and film. The 2011 Painting Apprentices have been working individually to develop a unique painting style and as a team on various projects. The apprentices toured the Cleveland Museum of Art to view impressionist and contemporary art and learned the preservation and restoration process of fine art. They also toured an art gallery with a behind the scenes tour to observe the operation of exhibiting, framing, marketing and selling fine art. This year painting apprentices are collaborating with Heights Arts creating and installing elements for the Fencepiration temporary public art project located at Cedar & Warrensville Center Rd. The apprentices will also assist in creating mural panels to be installed at the Cleveland Clinic Beachwood. In addition, painting apprentices will host campers from the King Kennedy Summer Camp coaching children ages 5-13 in the art of painting.
The painting Co-Op is street level on Euclid Ave...Stop in to see us! Final performance and exhibit is July 27.
