We Won!

The Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award goes to...Young Audiences ArtWorks!
It was  an honor to accompany the ArtWorks Directors today to the State House in Columbus Ohio as Young Audiences ArtWorks program received well deserved recognition winning the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award.

ArtWorks, an arts-based, workforce development program of Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio (YANEO), is a life-changing summer experience for Northeast Ohio teens.  The program utilizes the power of the arts to transform young lives and enrich the community.  For six summer weeks, youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds serve as paid apprentices to professional artists to gain arts and employment skills.  The program is open to all high school students entering grades 10 through 12.  Working in co-ops (teams) of 10 to 12 with Master Teaching Artists, apprentices produce high-quality visual and performing art—in  ceramics, drawing, painting, dance, music and theater—and gain valuable experience transferable to any future career.  Through their work, participants hone critical thinking, leadership and communication skills while learning to collaborate and develop creativity. Program goals include establishing the arts as a credible vehicle for job training, enhancing public awareness for the importance of the arts and arts education, plus fostering cultural awareness and understanding through the arts.
